Rev. Darnell Fennell, Pastor
Rev. Darnell Fennell is a new church planter in Houston Texas. After completing seminary at Pacific School of Religion, he returned to Houston in 2014 to start a Just Love a Disciples of Christ and United Church of Christ new church plant. Just Love is a missional faith community created by those who have marginalized by church and society, working together for wholeness for all people rooted in a theological ethic of living out a Just Love. Darnell has a background in community organizing and education. Darnell has a big imagination for the future of the Church, and he lives out this imagination as a church planter and as the Director of Social Entrepreneurship with the National Benevolent Association. Darnell seeks to live as a faithful leader by engaging new questions of God and new ways of engaging God that promote community, sustainability, and viability. |

Scott Smeltzer
Music Director Scott has been the Music Director at First Christian Church in Texas City since 2004. Originally from Mountaintop, Pennsylvania, he holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Mansfield University. Alongside his role at the church, Scott has been teaching music in public schools since 1995, currently as a music teacher at Roosevelt-Wilson Elementary School in Texas City |
Joe Vasquez
Maintenance Joe dedicated his career of 26 years to serving the UTMB Campus Police until his well-deserved retirement in 2009. Following his retirement, he embarked on a new chapter, embracing a meaningful role within the First Christian Church in Texas City. Since 2014, he has contributed his time and talents to the church community, fostering a sense of unity and purpose. His transition from law enforcement to spiritual service exemplifies his unwavering commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of others |
